Russian Sunbathing

DSC_1030-2.jpg

On the banks of the Neva river in Russia's second largest city, you will find an unexpected anomaly. In the chilly April air, St. Petersburg locals seek the smallest hint of sun and warmth after a long, dark winter in the northern hemisphere. The famous gold spire of the Peter and Paul Cathedral looks over brown-skinned Russians out of their prime, donning only underwear to take in zdarovy vitamin D. Russian resilience and tenacity shows in the photos; some flexing and posing for the camera while others choosing to ignore its existence. Down jackets and scarves decorate the ancient red bricks of the fortress wall as bodies turn rhythmically towards the falling sun.
